Chapter 6

Burden for the lost

This chapter gives some simple and basic witnessing techniques as revealed in scripture. Compassion and love should be our response to the crisis that most of mankind is speeding toward the Great White Throne judgment. Standing before Jesus in a state of guilt they will receive no mercy. Keeping the prophecy entails advancing the saving message of the gospel.

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” (Matt 28:19-20)

Good, good insight. It’s always refreshing to be reminded of what God promises to Israel and that which He is fulfilling during the church age. Keep up the good work, Jude 1:3.

    Hi prestonleigh

Is it possible that the method of calculating the 70 weeks of Daniel are wrong? I find it interesting that the captivity in Babylon which Daniel was praying about (9:21) lasted 70 years. Moreover-from the birth of the Messiah/Christ to the destruction of the very same temple spoken of in (9:25) was 70 years… The people Israel of that ‘generation’ were given exactly 40 years to repent from the beginning of the Lord’s ministry at about age 30 (Luke3:23 and Mark 1:14,15) to the destruction of that same temple. Lastly and the most important Daniel 9:27 is actually the only OT passage of scripture that tells us that the Messiah/Christ would die/be cutoff in the middle (midst) of the Holy week of the feast/festival of Passover and unleaven bread. Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1-12) was likely on the first day of the week-seven days before his glorious resurrection. Is it not possible that Daniel indeed spoke of a literal week (seven days) not seven years in 9:27? That Christ is in fact the ‘ He’ which confirmed the Covenant with many and that his death for sins caused all other sacrifices and oblations to cease being acceptable to God?

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
    Daniel 9:27

Thank you for responding to my blog. I understand and respect your position; however, I disagree.

“Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon they holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy” (Dan 9:24) This scripture is speaking to the nation of Israel. Therefore the events of this scripture will be fulfilled during the time period in which God is administering His program for Israel.

The length of time of this seventy weeks is 490 years. This is determined by the fact that the word week in this context means seven years. The Jews were accustomed to a week of days and a week of years. Obviously a week of days or 490 weeks would not allow for these events to transpire. Consistency of scripture would necessitate that Daniel’s prophecy maintain week as meaning seven years.

The 490 year period begins “from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem.” (Dan 9:25) From the commandment to restore Jerusalem until Christ was cut off or crucified was 69 weeks or 483 years. Immediately following the 483 years the program for Israel is temporarily set aside so that God could deal with the church. At the conclusion of the church’s program, God will resume His program with Israel. It is at this time that the remaining 7 weeks or 7 years which is also the 70th week will then be fulfilled.

“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week; and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease…” (Dan 9:27) The “he” is this scripture is the prince of the people who destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD as indicated in Dan 9:26. Rome destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD so the prince that shall come at the resuming of God’s program for Israel will be from the Roman Empire. This prince or “he” is the Beast or better referred to today as the Antichrist. The “he” will make a covenant with Israel for one week or the remaining seven years of God’s program with Israel. This remaining seven years is the Tribulation Period. In the middle of this week which is 3.5 years the Beast breaks his covenant with Israel thereby causing the oblation and sacrifice to cease.

Our difference in interpretation is that I believe God is dealing with man and earth in dispensations or time periods. He has a specific time period and program to deal with Israel which is separate from His program for the church. I therefore believe that the events to be fulfilled for Israel cannot be fulfilled when God is dealing with the church and vice versa.

Lets pray about each others interpretation to determine what insight God has for us. Blessings to you in your walk with Christ and may He give you all the desires of your heart.

    Prestonleigh i misspoke.

There is no mention of the actual temple being re-built in Daniel 9:25. (Sanctuary 9:26) However-the Lord Jesus was dedicated eight days after his birth-in the same temple that was destroyed by Titus ‘the prince’ and (the people) his armies in AD70…

“It is at this time that the remaining 7 weeks or 7 years which is also the 70th week will then be fulfilled.” I meant to say “that the remaining 1 week or 7 years..”
